This new project will allow refugees to move forward with the process of integration as part of the government’s commitment to increase integration support for all refugees in the UK, with a key focus on employment and self-employment. MENTA CEO Alex Till said “We are extremely excited to be launching this new refugee initiative, it is an extremely positive way for refugees to showcase their abundance of skills and talents and for the local community to assist in their integration”.
22/2/20 Update: We are now delivering 121 business advice training with the delegates that attended our workshops across East Anglia.
What do a Blacksmith, a Make-up artist, a Painter & Decorator and a Silk Importer have in common? Well, they are just some of the businesses that are being developed through the exciting new programme that MENTA is running for Refugee Entrepreneurs. Based in 3 key locations across the East of England Region (Norwich, Ipswich and Peterborough). MENTA has up to 30 people from 16 different countries going through the programme and is supporting refugee entrepreneurs to start their own businesses, with the important aim of helping people integrate with their local communities and hopefully create jobs within those communities. Thanks to MENTA’s unique 1-2-1 business support, despite the recent COVID19 ‘lock down’, the programme has been able to continue at pace, with MENTA’s expert business adviser Monica Bell able to provide 1-2-1 support and coaching through video conferencing.
As the project rolls out across 2020, we will be hosting events and training events in Ipswich, Peterborough and in Norwich. Contact us by emailing monica@menta.org.uk
